CheatSheet: How to add users to your watsonx project?

This cheat sheet is about how to add users to your watsonx project, ensure they are IBM Cloud Account members and have access to IBM Cloud Pak For Data (Data Platform). Send an IBM Cloud invite, then have the user login to IBM Cloud Pak For Data (Data Platform) and then they get registered.

Here is an image from the blog post: Write a simple question-answering pipeline with IBM watsonx.ai, IBM Watson Discovery by using Python and FastAPI that shows simplified dependencies in that context.

This is a two-step setup:

1. Add the User to IBM Cloud Account

The image shows the domain in the browser.

  1. Invite a user to your IBM Cloud Account with all rights to access all Resource Groups (if you don’t want to restrict it)
  2.  The User needs to accept the invitation.
  3.  Now, the User can assess the IBM Cloud Services.

The image shows how you can access a IBM Watson Studio instance.

2. User access the IBM Cloud Pak For Data (Dataplatform)

The image shows the domain in the browser.

  1. The User logs in to the IBM Cloud Dataplatform, the Resource Group, and the region where the project is.
  2.  Then, the User has registered also the IBM Cloud Dataplatform
  3.  Now you can add the users to your watsonx or Watson Studio projects.

3. Add the user to a watsonx or Watson Studio project

  • Select a watsonx or Watson Studio project.
  • Add the user as a collaborator to your project

4. Access a watsonx project

The following images are showing how you can access a IBM Watson Studio instance or watsonx project.

  • Select region
  • Press the burger menu
  • Select watsonx

Note: You can get more details here in the IBM Cloud Documentationhttps://dataplatform.cloud.ibm.com/docs/content/wsj/getting-started/collaborate.html?context=wx&audience=wdp

BTW: When you reach the limit on free tokens for your watsonx.ai per month, you need to change the plan for your related Watson Machine Learning service in IBM Cloud from Lite to Essentials or Standard. The image below is a screenshot from 01.02.2024; please visit the Watson Machine Learning webpage for details.

I hope this was useful to you and let’s see what’s next?

Greetings,

Thomas
