Deploy a Microservice to OpenShift

In this blog post I want to point out that I just created a  9 min YouTube video related to the great Hands-on workshop: Reactive Endpoints with Quarkus on OpenShift. In this video you can watch and follow the steps of the exercise 4  “Deploy Service to OpenShift”.

Let me give you a short preview of the exercise 4 “Deploy Service to OpenShift”..

In that exercise we will deploy the My Web-API Microservice to OpenShift on IBM Cloud.
The image below shows the architecture of the sample Microservice application.

The gif below contains a simplified overview of the steps in the exercise:

  1. Tasks in the oc CLI :
  2. Tasks in the Web Console :
    • Deploy the image
    • Expose the Microservice application to test the running Microservice in a browser.

BTW: We don’t need to create the deployment and service yaml specifications 😉

I hope this was useful for you and let’s see what’s next?

Greetings,

Thomas

PS:  You can try out Cloud Foundry Apps or Kubernetes on IBM Cloud. By the way, you can use the IBM Cloud for free, if you simply create an IBM Lite account. Here you only need an e-mail address.
